With existing low customer margins and high acquisition costs, we were recruited to create a new e-business to potentially reverse this trend. Our solution was to develop a unique cruise, tour, and air product that had no competition, and that created a strong value proposition to the customer with greatly improved margins.
Dramatically increased travel-related sales from $30M to $95M+ by aggregating vendor-driven co-op programs into bi-monthly Travel Value Catalog, redesigning branch office and travel agent compensation program, creating Customer Referral and Rewards programs, and developing a unique, 100+ at-home agent work force selling incremental Disney travel products.
Recruited to revitalize a 150-year old brand that was poised to build the world's most expensive ocean liner. Developed qualitative research that led to positioning Cunard as "The Most Famous Ocean Liners in the World," and the resulting award-winning QM2 introductory campaign. Ship launched with highest average rate in Company's history.
Led the Company's transition from chartering river ships to building, owning, and operating river ships on the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers. Identified and selected ship yard and worked with ship designers. Acted as owner's representative for handover. Developed concept for suites and alternative dining area now widely accepted on river ships.
The assignment here was to create an operating structure and consistent product delivery for a company that was chartering ships from outside owners. The solution was to create a holding company structure based in Switzerland called Global River Cruises and to use that as the basis for future growth, acquisition, and ship management.
